A Hands-On Guide for Photographers within self publishing with Matt Martin.
With the concept of the self published or published photographic book becoming more and more out of reach for many due to high price costs and an overwhelming market, we want to be able to give you insight into the DIY practice of the artist book.
To design a workshop that actually gives you the skills to produce your own photographic publication, by hand, with resources that are actually accessible and means you leave with a finished product along with a new excitement for the practice. Alongside a clear understanding into not just connecting your work to the page, but how the process of DIY artist book making can help create more than just a singular vision. It helps creates conversation, community and the feeling that each day you can go out into the world and create something special.
Matt Martin has been producing exhibitions, workshops and publications for over 15 years. He has produced workshops for Magnum Photos, Photoworks, the Photographers Gallery as well as designing artist books for a wide range of clients, alongside exhibition & brand catalogues for Adidas, Dr Martens, Build Hollywood and more. For the last 5 years he has been the curator of Photobook Cafe, London and now co runs BEACON Projects, a new gallery, printers and photobook project space based in Penzance, Cornwall.
